Wow! Amazing Turnout.

Wow!

What a turnout for our first 2015 cycle to school day!

150 parents and children were delighted to have Commonwealth cyclists Kerry MacPhee and Louise Haston join them today.

Great to be able to help with EdFoC launch.

Thank you to everyone who came along.

Sciennes First Ride to School Day 2015

Friday April 24th is our 1st ride to school day. The route is the same as usual. We leave from King's Buildings at 8.20 and cycle along Mayfield Road, Causewayside and turn left into Sciennes House Place. Qualified ride leaders accompany the ride.

Additionally many children and parents/carers join from the side roads along the route.

Good practice for the next day -

More cyclists coming!

Several children claimed a free 'balance bike' yesterday (supplied by the Bike Station).

Many children (from the age of about two) learn the basic lesson of bike riding - balance - with a specially designed bike without pedals.

But (almost) any bike will do - just take off the pedals! For years children have ridden bikes with stabilisers as their first introduction to 'cycling'.

For most children it's probably an unecessary stage - especially as large numbers also learn about "balance" by using scooters.

There should be a few more children ready for pedalling by the end of the Easter holiday.
